Biography

Dacre Kayd Montgomery-Harvey was born on November 22, 1994 in Perth, Australia. Both his parents worked in the film industry while he was growing up. Being around film sets, Dacre began developing a love of acting. His mother kept him away from the television while he was a child, but decided he wanted to begin taking acting lessons at the age of ten.

Dacre became an extra on the set of Bertrand the Terrible, a short film, shortly after beginning acting lessons and decided he wanted to pursue an acting career. He attended Mount Lawley High School before being accepted into Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Acting. While in high school, he attended workshops and was cast in countless productions at WAAPA. Dacre graduated college on his 21st birthday and would begin his acting career just weeks after.

In 2015, he began filming Safe Neighborhood, an Australian thriller co-starring Virginia Madsen, which was released in September of the following year. Dacre also filmed A Few Less Men, co-starring Xavier Samuel, the sequel to the 2011 film A Few Best Men. These roles didn’t prepare him for what was yet to come.

Dacre soon landed the role of Jason Scott, the Red Ranger, in the reboot of Power Rangers. To prepare for the role, he trained with Britten of WA Institute of Martial Arts. This martial arts academy gave him fighting training as well as helped him get a buff physique necessary for the role. He was training 3 hours a day and had changed his diet as well. Dacre also indulged in boxing and yoga sessions to get his dream physique for the role. Power Rangers was released on March 24, 2017 and made $40.3 million during its opening weekend.

That wasn’t the only thing that was in store for Dacre in 2017. He made his television debut in the second season of the Netflix series Stranger Things, as Billy Hargrove. He spent two seasons on the show before moving on. In 2020, Dacre was the male narrator for the short film In Vitro before his next feature film would be released in theaters. He played Nick, an aspiring hotel owner, in the romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Gallery opposite Geraldine Viswanathan.

Dacre is currently filming the untitled Elvis Presley film, where he portrays Steve Binder. The film also stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley, Tom Hanks, Xavier Samuel, and Luke Bracey.
